Muhurat Dates for 2026: What to Buy When

Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, Pushya Nakshatra — every muhurat has a different sweet spot for jewellery buying. A calendar-savvy plan can save you 4–6% on gold alone.

#muhurat#planning

Muhurat buying is not superstition. It is a genuine advantage for a jewellery buyer who plans two years ahead — the market softens after big auspicious days as jewellers clear stock, and stiffens before them as demand spikes.

The muhurat calendar that actually matters

  • Akshaya Tritiya (May) — biggest jewellery buying day of the year. Buy before if you want the design leverage, buy on the day if you want the auspiciousness, avoid the week after when jewellers restock at higher rates.
  • Pushya Nakshatra (monthly) — the "quiet muhurat". Excellent for buying refined pieces without festival price pressure. Look for the specific date in your region's panchang.
  • Dhanteras (October–November) — the family-locker refresh day. Even 1g of gold bought here is symbolic. Perfect time to inventory your existing gold, not necessarily to buy heavy.
  • Guru Pushya / Navratri — premium jewellers run their best design launches. Book a visit for browsing, not signing.

The counter-intuitive muhurat

The best day to buy heavy bridal gold is often the Monday after a major muhurat. Rates soften, jewellers have leftover stock to move, and salespeople are willing to talk making-charge discounts.

How Shivormi helps you time this

Enter your wedding date during onboarding and Shivormi auto-detects the buying muhurats between today and your wedding day. The AI plan will suggest which piece to buy in which window — for example, the Rani Haar in the Pushya Nakshatra of October (design-heavy piece, quiet market), and the daily-wear mangalsutra on Akshaya Tritiya (auspicious anchor purchase).

What families forget

  • Muhurat is for buying, not tailoring — heavy custom design work should start 90 days before a muhurat, so the piece is ready on the day.
  • Auspicious does not mean expensive — a small 2g gold coin bought on Dhanteras counts for the ritual and costs ₹22,000. You do not need a ₹5 lakh purchase to satisfy the tradition.
  • Family opinion beats astrology — if your grandmother says the family Muhurat is a particular Ekadashi, that is the muhurat, full stop.

Pair your muhurat calendar with our family gold pool and you will see exactly how much fresh gold you need to buy on each auspicious day.
